Woman loses over HKD30,000 in phone scam by police impersonator
A local woman was defrauded of more than HKD130,000 after falling victim to a scam involving callers posing as Wuhan police. The scammers claimed her mainland number was linked to fraudulent messages and convinced her to cooperate by downloading a video app and enabling screen sharing in a hotel room. Using her personal details, they gained access to her bank account. The victim later noticed suspicious transfers and reported the case to police.
