THAILAND Police have arrested two brothers from Britain wanted on drug trafficking charges in their homeland.

INDIA Tens of thousands of Hindus gathered in northern India yesterday renewing calls to build a Hindu temple on a site where a 16th century mosque was attacked and demolished by Hindu hard-liners in 1992, sparking deadly Hindu-Muslim violence.

SRI LANKA’s president yesterday assured non-interference in ongoing investigations into abductions, killings of journalists and other crimes allegedly committed by those connected to the new prime minister and his Cabinet.

SAUDI ARABIA A prominent Saudi royal said Saturday that whether or not heads of state gathered in Argentina for the Group of 20 summit warmly engage with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, he is someone “that they have to deal with.”

TURKEY Authorities detained two people following a drive-by shooting near the Austrian Embassy in capital Ankara early yesterday.

SYRIA Russian warplanes attacked rebel-held areas in northern Syria for the first time in weeks yesterday, as Syrian officials said more than 100 people were treated at hospitals for what they allege was a poison gas attack by rebels in the northern city of Aleppo.

ZIMBABWE’s 94-year-old former president Robert Mugabe is no longer able to walk as his health declines, his successor said.

UGANDA Diving teams are retrieving bodies from Lake Victoria where police say at least 30 people died in a boat accident near the capital, Kampala.

SWITZERLAND Voters yesterday rejected a national referendum on a cattle farmer’s proposal to have the government subsidize herders of goats and cows if they let their animals keep their horns, according to projections.

FRANCE President Emmanuel Macron has condemned violence by protesters at demonstrations against rising fuel taxes and his government. At least 20 people were hurt in the protests, including one with more serious injuries. Dozens of people have been arrested.

BRITAIN European Union leaders yesterday sealed a divorce deal with Britain, and issued a warning to U.K. politicians who within weeks will approve or reject it — this offer is as good as it gets. For once, U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May was in complete agreement. 

BRAZIL’s federal police issued 22 arrest warrants as part of a probe into a corruption and money laundering scheme involving construction of the new headquarters of the state oil company in the northeastern city of Salvador.
