AL committee wary on discontinuation of inspection travel agencies

The Second Standing Committee has expressed its apprehension regarding the discontinuation of inspections of travel agencies prior to the issuance of licenses, as stipulated in the new law governing the operations of travel agencies and tourist guides. Yesterday, the committee’s president, Chan Chak Mo, said it was seeking clarification on when inspections would be conducted on establishments that await travel agency approval. Chan said the proposed law provides for fines of between 50,000 and 70,000 patacas per day for travel agencies that charge prices below the market.
