Art Macao’s City Pavilion features Portuguese neo-realism

The “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2025” is presenting more than 30 exhibitions across six sections, including the “City Pavilion”, which highlights cultural exchanges between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
Currently open at the Tap Seac Gallery, the Pavilion of Vila Franca de Xira from Portugal is showcasing “The Reinvention of the Real – Portuguese Contemporary Art in the Museum of Neo-Realism Collection.”
Curated by David Santos and José Maçãs de Carvalho, the exhibition features works in painting, installation, photography and video, created between 1999 and 2024. The presentation aligns with the Biennale’s theme, “Hey, what brings you here?”, inviting audiences to reflect on how art reshapes contemporary reality.
Organised by the Consulate General of Portugal in Macao and Hong Kong and the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the exhibition runs until November 16. Admission is free, and the gallery is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
