Briefs | Zhuhai: Promotional clip released to mark 39th year as SEZ

To mark its 39th anniversary as a special economic zone (SEZ), the neighboring city of Zhuhai has launched a three-minute promotional video telling the story of its growth from the perspective of a foreigner. In the video clip, the foreigner sets out to explore the old and new parts of Zhuhai with a camera in hand. According to director Xing Chuan, the promotional clip was designed to help international audiences understand and learn to love the coastal city. The Greater Bay municipality has also released a new logo, which invokes the likeness of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, as well as the hills, sea and natural landscape that can be experienced from the city.

Guangzhou: Global Lawyers Forum set for December

The Global Lawyers Forum will be held on December 9 and 10 in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, according to the All China Lawyers Association (ACLA). Hosted by the association, the forum centers on the progress of science and technology and legal services, aiming to enhance the exchanges and cooperation between the lawyers’ circles of China and the world. Six sub-forums will be held focusing on the Belt and Road Initiative and legal services, international trade and compliance, cross-border investment and mergers and more. Around 600 lawyers, judicial department officials and experts from home and abroad are expected to attend the forum, said the ACLA.

Shenzhen: Huawei to deepen 5G cooperation with Uruguay

China’s tech giant Huawei has signed a memorandum of understanding with Uruguay to deepen cooperation on 5G, industrial digitization and talented people training in information and communication technology, according to the company. The memorandum was inked during a recent visit to the company’s headquarters in Shenzhen by a delegation led by Guillermo Moncecchi, minister of industry, energy and mining of Uruguay. The minister said his country hopes to deepen strategic partnership with Huawei on emerging technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and cloud computing. Huawei has been operating in Uruguay since 2005. Fernando Lugris, Uruguayan ambassador to China, who was accompanying the minister, said Huawei products are very popular among Uruguayans and the Chinese company is welcome to explore more cooperation opportunities in Uruguay.
