CNY Visit

Chief Executive visits communities during CNY holiday

Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai visited several neighbourhoods across Macau on the fourth day of Chinese New Year to observe pedestrian traffic and local business operations during the festive period, according to the Government Information Bureau.

The visit was conducted to gain first-hand understanding of community conditions. The government said it remains committed to maintaining public order and protecting the safety and property of residents and visitors.

Authorities also said they are continuing efforts to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in upgrading and modernizing operations, while working with the private sector to promote steady community economic growth.

As cited in the statement, Sam said that “Macau is home to many well-managed local businesses, whose success stories can serve as valuable references for supporting other local SMEs in upgrading and transforming their operations.”

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive reviewed crowd management arrangements in busy pedestrian areas and thanked frontline police officers for their work during the holiday period. He said existing crowd control measures have helped maintain a safe and orderly festive environment.

Sam also visited local businesses to extend New Year greetings and discuss operating conditions. He encouraged relevant departments to continue supporting merchants in improving service quality and competitiveness.

In Taipa, Sam visited the revitalised Taipa Market and spoke with stallholders about how the upgraded environment has affected daily operations. He also toured the “Gastronomy + Culture and Creativity Area” within the market.

Later, he visited businesses in Taipa Village and inspected transport facilities, including a public car park opened in 2025 and improved bus stop arrangements.

In Coloane, Sam reviewed progress of the flood control and drainage project on the western side of the village and urged relevant departments to ensure the project proceeds as scheduled. The government said it will continue improving community facilities to support local development.
