CE urges quality enterprises, projects to invest in Macau and Hengqin

Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai called on quality enterprises and projects to invest in Macau and Hengqin during a virtual address at the inauguration of the 3rd Industrial and Commercial Conference for the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Speaking earlier this week in Guangzhou, Sam said that “Macau + Hengqin” is emerging as a new example of implementing the ‘One country, two systems’ principle, serving as a “driving force for GBA development and a platform for high-quality international engagement.”

He added that Macau leverages its institutional advantages and international links to position itself as “One Center, One Platform, and One Base,” promoting foreign investment, cross-border collaboration, and regional innovation.

In his speech, the Chief Executive stressed that the GBA’s construction is a major national strategy coordinated and promoted by President Xi Jinping.

Sam outlined key projects supporting Macau’s integration with Hengqin and high-quality GBA development.

These include the Macau-Hengqin International Education City, an integrated international tourism and cultural district, a Macau International Air Transport Hub on the west bank of the Pearl River, and a research and development industrial park.

The government said these initiatives will strengthen Macau’s role in economic diversification, enhance regional connectivity, and contribute to building an internationally recognized Greater Bay Area. Times Reporter
