Day hospital’ licenses proposed to boost medical tourism

The Health Bureau (SSM) concluded a 30-day public consultation yesterday on reforms to private health care regulations (which began April 17). The consultation drew more than 200 attendees across five sessions, along with written submissions, according to the SSM. The draft Legal System for Private Medical Institutions introduces a “day hospital” license category, facilities offering surgical and diagnostic services without overnight stays, to attract medical tourists and diversify the city’s health sector.
