DICJ warns of illegal gambling websites

The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) has warned citizens about illegal gambling websites accepting bets under the public department’s name. Responding to a rising number of public enquiries relating to the illegal gambling websites, DICJ clarified that its only official website is http://www.dicj.gov.mo.
“The Macau government has never issued any online interactive gaming license to any company. Hence, all online interactive gambling websites in Macau are considered illegal operations,” it added.
The bureau stressed that its purpose is to monitor and supervise Macau’s various gambling activities, and “will not encourage, promote, or operate any form of gambling activities.”
DICJ stated that any unauthorized use of its official website information or photos for promotional purposes without prior consent is considered an offense, and declared that they have the right to pursue legal action.

Health | Hospital malpractice claim under probe

The Health Bureau is currently investigating an alleged medical malpractice case where a local citizen accused personnel from the city’s public hospital of failing to identify his father’s acute renal failure. Besides the suspected problematic diagnosis, Souza, the victim’s son, slammed the hospital’s “disrespectful manner” in handling his family’s complaints during a recent press conference.
According to Souza, his father, unable to eat, was diagnosed as being in a critical condition at theKiang Wu Hospital only hours after being discharged from the public hospital where the doctors, as he claimed, did not conduct thorough examinations on the 62-year-old. A week after the incident and the public hospital has still not responded to the accusation. Staff reporter
