1-05-05-aThe Summer Vacation Activities program was jointly presented yesterday by the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) and the Sports Bureau (ID).
The program will be held during July and August, aimed at local residents aged between 4 and 25 years of age. DSEJ and ID are in charge of recreational and cultural activities and sport events, and have been provided with budgets of MOP13.27 million and MOP13.62 million, respectively. Participants will be charged registration fees that may vary between MOP20 and MOP1,100 depending upon choice of activities.
Activities such as hip-hop dance and Portuguese cooking will be offered in both English and Portuguese languages. The fees for such activities range between MOP20 and MOP220. Furthermore, English language conversation and English junior cooking will be offered exclusively in English. The above events will take place in Macau.
Most activities will be held in the city, with some events such as camping and biking to be arranged in Hong Kong and Guangdong. Residents who intend to participate in these external activities will pay between MOP400 and MOP1,100 depending on their choices.
Special activities will be arranged for people with physical or mental disabilities, including swimming and basketball, among 20 other options.
According to Un Hoi Cheng, chief of the Department of Youth of DSEJ, applicants can choose to take part in a study camp to Fujian. Selected participants will have the opportunity to visit the Yongding earthen buildings – a type of Chinese rural dwelling found in Fujian province. “This is being done in order to let the local youth know more about Chinese culture,” said Un.
The ID provides a total of 129 sport activities, including martial arts, ball games and camping. The bureau has made available a total of 25,060 places. In turn, the DSEJ is offering 294 activities with a total of 28,526 places available. Each participant can attend up to four activities.
The registration period starts at 10 a.m. on April 28 and ends at 10 p.m. on May 9. Those who are interested can apply at the Tap Seac Sports Complex.
This year, 11 additional sport activities and 5 additional training camps have been included in the event by the ID. The DSEJ also arranged more activities. Staff reporter
