Football | Striker Lima hits 2 to give Benfica 2-0 win at Porto

Lima scored twice to lead Benfica to a 2-0 win at fierce rival Porto yesterday (Macau time), the first victory for the Portuguese leaders at the Stadium of the Dragon since the 2005-06 season.
The Benfica striker opened with a goal in the 36th minute from a throw-in from Maxi Pereira, and doubled the lead in the 55th when he converted a rebound.
Porto surged forward late with Jackson Martinez heading the ball off the goal frame twice.
Benfica, the defending champions, opened a six-point gap over second-place Porto with the victory.
It was Porto’s first league loss of the season through 13 rounds.
“We were leaders and were trying to hold onto the top spot. Now we have to keep going with the same work ethic, unity and humility,” said Lima. “Nothing is won yet, and that should be the spirit. This will be the spirit until the end, facing every game like the classic.”
Also, Guimaraes remained in third place— behind Porto on goal difference— after being held 0-0 at home by Rio Ave.
Fifth-place Sporting Lisbon drew 0-0 with visiting Moreirense, and Estoril drew 0-0 at Maritimo. AP
