Four passengers injured in a sudden braking incident on a cross-border bus

At least four passengers sustained minor injuries after a traffic incident involving a cross-border bus at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB) yesterday.
According to earlier reports, the bus, traveling through the West Plaza of the Macau Port of the HZMB, suddenly braked, causing some passengers to slip out of their seats.
According to the Public Security Police Force (PSP), preliminary investigations suggest that the bus driver likely braked suddenly to avoid a vehicle that changed lanes abruptly.
The driver is a local woman in her 50s who passed a breathalyzer test, the PSP told the public radio broadcaster TDM in response to media inquiries.
While noting that investigations are still ongoing into the case, authorities reported four injured passengers, including two locals and two Hong Kong residents.
The two Hong Kong residents, with minor contusions and abrasions, declined hospital treatment, while the two local residents with similar injuries were taken to the Conde de São Januário Hospital Center for medical evaluation and treatment. No serious injuries were reported.
The case was initially reported by the Fire Services Bureau, which said it had received the notification of the incident and deployed ambulances around 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Officials said the injured were aged between 35 and 71, and first responders noted contusions and abrasions to their hands, feet, heads, and backs, resulting from falling and sliding off their seats during the incident.
This also indicates that the passengers were not wearing seat belts at the time of the incident.
