The local gaming sector employed 53,272 people at the end of 2025, according to statistics from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) on manpower needs and wages.
The figure represents a 0.2% increase compared to 2024.
Among the sectors analyzed, gaming reported the lowest increase, while the number of workers in the Transport, Storage & Communications sector (16,219) and Security Activities (13,227) saw more significant year-over-year increases of 7.3% and 2.4%, respectively.
On the other hand, those engaged in Wholesale & Retail Trade (66,807) decreased by 2.5%.
Regarding wages, DSEC noted that in December last year, average earnings (excluding irregular remuneration) of full-time employees in the Transport, Storage & Communications, Security Activities, Gaming, and Wholesale & Retail Trade sectors stood at MOP 22,650, MOP 13,940, MOP 28,020, and MOP 14,640, respectively.
In addition, employee recruitment rates for Public Sewage & Refuse Disposal Activities, Security Activities, Transport, Storage & Communications, and Wholesale & Retail Trade were 5.8%, 4.9%, 4.7%, and 3.1%, respectively.
DSEC’s survey on manpower needs and wages for the fourth quarter of 2025 covered Wholesale & Retail Trade, Transport, Storage & Communications, Security Activities, Public Sewage & Refuse Disposal Activities, and Gaming sectors; however, self-employed individuals, junket promoters, and junket associates were not included in the survey.
The number of employees in each surveyed sector includes both resident and non-resident workers.
