Health Bureau Warns of Approaching Peak Summer Flu Season

The Health Bureau (SSM) has reported a rise in flu cases in Macau, with 12% to 15% of patients presenting with respiratory symptoms testing positive for the virus. This suggests that Macau may soon enter its peak summer flu season. According to the bureau, outpatient visits for influenza-like illnesses have increased since late last month, particularly among adults, with cases rising from 3.0 to 3.7 per 100 visits. The positivity rate for influenza tests has surged from 1.9% to 12.4%, approaching the warning threshold. Meanwhile, Covid-19 cases have declined since March, with an average positivity rate of about 14% over the past four weeks, indicating that the virus remains active.
