MGM’s Macau 2049 wins China Cultural Tourism Pioneer Award

MGM’s residency show Macau 2049, created in collaboration with filmmaker Zhang Yimou, has won the 6th China Cultural Tourism Pioneer Award at the 2025 ceremony hosted by the China Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (CAAPA).
The award recognizes the show’s innovative integration of Chinese intangible cultural heritage with advanced performance technology.
According to the gaming operator, the production was praised for its artistic vision, global appeal and contribution to promoting Chinese culture through immersive experiences.
Held recently in Qingdao, the award ceremony followed a competitive evaluation process led by over 20 industry experts. Macau 2049 stood out for its futuristic stage design, use of AI, LED visuals, and biomimetic elements.
“Looking ahead, Macau 2049 will continue to develop new content, explore more cross-disciplinary collaborations and continue to expand its influence on the global stage,” MGM said in a statement.
