Music Local orchestra to kick off 2016-2017 concert season in September

The Macao Orchestra is set to kick off its 2016-2017 concert season in September. According to a statement issued by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the upcoming concert season is themed “Your Time with Music,” and will feature a number of promising classical musicians who display the “youthful effervescence” of the genre.
Yulianna Avdeeva, first prize winner in the Chopin Competition, and Yao-yu Wu, the winner of the 2013 Besancon International Competition for Young Conductors, have been invited to perform during the upcoming concert season.
Orchestral musicians including pianist Alice Sara Ott; violinist Nemanja Radoluvic; young conductors Roberto Gianola and Jose Luis Gomez will also be showcasing their talent.
Amongst many other musicians, world-renowned British conductor Gordon Hunt, Hungarian conductor Gilbert Varga, German conductor Bruno Weil and Chinese violinist Ning Feng will be present and  will collaboratively  bring Chinese and foreign classics to convey their sentiments regarding the upcoming music voyage.
Moreover, the Macao Orchestra will make its debut with the remarkable symphony by British composer Sir Edward William Elgar and Ralph Vaughan Williams, and also stage a concert of Alexander von Zemlinsky’s renowned opera.
The orchestra will also introduce prominent music works including musical theatre and a multimedia film score concert to the region.
Tickets will be available for sale from Monday, August 8, from Macau Ticketing Network outlets.

Youth orchestra to perform in Queensland

the Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra Association is bringing three performances to Queensland as part of Prodigy Collective, an international gathering of youth orchestras. The event marks the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Queensland Youth Orchestras, according to a report by Macao Daily News. This marks the first time in nine years that the musical association returns to Queensland for a performance. During the festival, the young musicians will perform pieces of both Western classical and Chinese music.
