Photography | MAM exhibition explores historical Macau

The Macau Museum of Art (MAM), together with the Black- And- White Photographic Society of Macau, is holding an exhibition of the photography works of Lee Kung Kim. The exhibition, titled “Love of Macao – Photographs by Lee Kung Kim,” features 150 photographical works documenting the people of Macau, exploring aspects of life in the city in the 1960s and 1970s.

Lee Kung Kim (1930-2015), an experienced Macanese photographer, was born in Meizhou and started taking photographs in the 1950s. From a career spanning over half a century, Lee is a much awarded and respected figure in the field.

He was also the president and chairman of the board of the Photographic Society of Macau, a consultant of the China Photographers Association, as well as the honorary president of a number of other associations.

The works on exhibition were “unconditionally donated” by his family members, notes a statement issued by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) yesterday, with respect to the photographer’s wishes and “in support of cultural activities.”

The inauguration and exhibition preview session was held this week.

The exhibition is open to the public from tonight until July 9. It will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and is closed on Mondays. Admission is free of charge.
