Police detain suspect of theft occurred last month

The Public Security Police Force (PSP) has detained the suspect of a theft which occurred on December 21, 2018 at Rua de Santa Clara in Macau’s central district.
The suspect, a mainland resident aged over 40 years old who told the police that he is working as an online sales person, was caught while trying to reenter the region over the weekend through the Border Gate checkpoint.

The authorities sought the man after he was identified through surveillance cameras, as he is a suspect in the theft of a car parked on Rua de Santa Clara. According to security camera footage, the man was seen wandering around the area for about two hours, approaching the vehicle several times before managing to steal from its interior two bags containing skin care products valued at MOP23,000.

The suspect denied the crime but the police spokesperson said they have enough evidence in the video footage to prove the theft.

In a separate case, the PSP also reported that they found an illegal immigrant, a man over 40 years old from Vietnam, who was caught in a routine document inspection operation on January 12 around 9 a.m.

At the time, the man failed to provide documents and later he admitted he had illegally entered Macau on November 8, 2018 by swimming from the mainland. He also told the police that he committed the offence with the purpose of finding job.  RM
