Reclaimed water price announced at 85% of drinking water rate

Following the announcement of reclaimed water supply, the prices have been published in the Official Gazette, with the usage fee set at 85% of the corresponding drinking water rate.

According to the published executive order amending Article 3 of the “Fees and Charges for Public Water Supply Services,” the recycled water usage fee is calculated based on the drinking water usage fee established for each user category.

Reclaimed water usage fees per cubic meter for the following categories include: residential water consumption at MOP3.81, general non-residential water consumption at MOP5.13, and special water use at MOP6.59.

Starting in March, recycled water will be supplied to Coloane’s Seac Pai Van Housing Complex and the University of Macau (UM), as announced by the director of the Marine and Water Bureau (DSMSA), Susana Wong.

This initiative will specifically focus on major water users such as integrated resorts and hotels equipped with dual-pipe systems, to expand the use of reclaimed water.

The Cotai Strip has been identified as the initial priority area, given the relative ease of extending pipelines there.

Water bills issued by Macao Water will simultaneously list the consumption amounts and costs for both drinking water and reclaimed water.Ricaela Diputado
