Police have uncovered a case of fake employment involving a Vietnamese woman in her 40s, who allegedly obtained a blue card to stay in the city for over three years.
The woman reportedly secured the card through a local male friend, who acted as her purported employer.
Authorities said the case came to light during routine checks on domestic helper contract renewals, when the woman appeared unfamiliar with her supposed employer’s household.
Upon questioning, both the Vietnamese woman and the 40-year-old local man admitted to the fake employment arrangement.
According to police, the woman previously worked in the massage sector until 2022.
After leaving that job, she sought to remain in the city and find work, arranging through a friend to be falsely employed as a domestic helper. Both parties claimed no financial transactions were involved in the arrangement.
Police records show that the woman made multiple trips out of Macau during her stay. She has not disclosed her current employment in the city.
The case has been referred to the Public Prosecutions Office for investigation. LV
