PSP uncovers sham marriage case involving residency fraud

The Public Security Police  (PSP) uncovered a suspected sham marriage case involving a man in his 70s who allegedly helped a woman, now 60, and her two stepchildren obtain Macau residency through a fake marriage in 2007. Authorities believe the two did not live together as husband and wife and later divorced in 2019. The man reportedly admitted he committed the offense in exchange for sexual services. The case came to light after the man later applied for family reunification with another mainland woman, prompting officers to flag inconsistencies in his marital record. His current application remains under investigation.
