Sands Cares Ambassadors Maintaining Spirit of Service in 2021

Sands China’s Sands Cares Ambassadors continue the spirit of care, love and sharing in the year 2021, as part of the company’s efforts to give back to the local community. They have contributed more than 130,000 hours of voluntary community service since the programme’s founding in 2009.
The Ambassadors showed love and care for a total of 100 live-alone elderly residents of the neighbourhoods near Rua da Praia do Manduco before Chinese New Year, through an annual spring-cleaning volunteer service activity that includes free haircuts, as a way to welcome the Year of the Ox.
Sands China continued its yearly support of Macau Holy House of Mercy’s Welfare Shop to assist in providing support to low-income families in Macao. Sands Cares Ambassadors carried on the tradition by helping distribute over 360 Chinese New Year food hampers the week before the Year of the Ox. Sands China also donated MOP 300,000 to the organisation to support its year-round food hamper initiative.
To strengthen family bonding and to celebrate the new flagship property of Cotai, The Londoner Macao, Sands Cares Ambassadors hosted about 80 members of the Women’s General Association of Macau at the integrated resort mid-March for a special guided tour of the newly launched British-themed integrated resort, where they had an enjoyable afternoon.
The volunteer group held another initiative to support the underprivileged on a Sunday in April, when they hosted 30 deaf Catholics based at St. Joseph the Worker Church for a guided tour of the immersive art space of teamLab SuperNature Macao at The Venetian Macao as part of its effort to promote social inclusion. The day before, the Sands volunteers attended a special sign language workshop at St. Joseph the Worker Church to get prepared for hosting their guests.
Sands China Ltd. President Dr. Wilfred Wong remarked: “Community outreach activities like these are part of Sands China’s commitment to the local Macao community and to the promotion of social integration, and we are grateful to our Sands Cares Ambassadors for their continued dedication and spirit of service to our community.”
