The Sands China Performing Arts Programme is bringing Disney The Magic Box to Macao tomorrow, Saturday, July 12, with the first of 10 shows at The Venetian Theatre. The Macao performances are the China debut of the ground-breaking musical, which brings its story to life with puppetry, magnificent choreography, innovative theatrical techniques and stunning visuals.

Running July 12-13 and 18-20 with performances at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., the 90-minute show guides audiences on the character Mara’s enchanting adventure to experience Disney’s storytelling magic and enjoy quality summer time together as a family. It features Disney’s much-loved characters and excerpts from over 75 classic songs from Disney films, played by a live orchestra. This includes Circle of Life (from The Lion King), A Whole New World (Aladdin), Let it Go (Frozen), I am Moana (Moana) and Zero to Hero (Hercules).

Disney The Magic Box is one of the headlined musicals of the 2nd Macao International Children’s Arts Festival, under the patronage of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, co-organised by Sands China Ltd. and supported by various entities. The festival takes place July-August with performing arts, music camps, film screenings, book corners, creative workshops, large-scale outdoor installations and other carnival activities. It provides a vibrant and interactive environment where children can explore the world of art, while families enjoy a delightful and artistic summer together.

Launched in 2023, the Sands China Performing Arts Programme aims to broaden the scope of performing arts in Macao by introducing and promoting premier national, local, and overseas projects. The programme aligns with the Macao SAR government’s vision for the integrated tourism and leisure industry, taking advantage of the city’s role as a platform for international exchange while promoting its global reputation as both a City of Performing Arts and Culture City of East Asia.
