The Parisian Macao’s large-scale recruitment fair at Sands Cotai Central, which was attended by thousands of locals, was extended for an additional day to interview the many walk-in candidates who came during the first two days.
More than 600 contracts were signed on the spot during the three-day recruitment fair, according to a statement.
“We wanted Macau’s local talent to have first priority for our new positions, and the thousands of locals who came were shown the diversity of career paths available with The Parisian Macao and Sands China. Sands China is a big supporter of diversification in Macau; we offer many non-gaming career paths and we encourage Macau locals to take advantage of the diverse career choices available with Sands China,” said Antonio Ramirez, senior vice president of human resources for Sands China Ltd.
Sands China’s recruitment efforts will continue in the months leading up to the opening of The Parisian Macao.
iag presents ‘strategic leadership series’
Inside Asian Gaming (IAG) will present a one-day program, “Strategic Leadership Series,” for hospitality and gaming professionals to improve their leadership, management and communication skills.
Professor Brian To, Senior Fellow at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, is the program leader.
According to IAG, the program is highly suitable for those in client-facing roles, whose jobs require them to interact with customers, colleagues and vendors and build relationships in sales and service-related contexts.
The workshop will also cover building trust through interpersonal communications between customers, peers, superiors and subordinates.
The workshop will be held on April 20 at Banyan Tree Macau and will feature individual study, case studies, group work, mini tutorials and videos.
The ongoing “Strategic Leadership Series” aims to develop participants’ skills and improve productivity through enhancing personal effectiveness. Future programs include “Managing Others” and “Managing Organizations.”
“IAG is going to start to run more and more of these industry events. As we all know, Macau has a very serious skills shortage issue, especially when it comes to high level managerial skills. These events are our little contribution towards slowly addressing the problem,” Andrew Scott, publisher of Inside Asian Gaming, told the Times.
All proceeds from the program will be donated to the Simply Share Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to fighting hunger and malnutrition, especially in children, in vulnerable areas of the Philippines.
