The 2025 Guangdong and Macau Branded Products Fair is set to open tomorrow at the Venetian Cotai Expo, with organizers unveiling key themes and new features during a press conference held yesterday.
Che Weng Keong, president of the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), announced that this year’s fair will emphasize two main focus areas within the gaming and lifestyle sectors: the silver economy and the China chic industry.
He explained that a new feature, the Silver-haired Lifestyle and Health Zone, will be introduced to showcase smart home equipment and assistive technology for senior citizens. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase products and services specifically designed to meet the needs of the elderly.
To support this initiative, the government aims to assist companies in expanding their reach overseas through business matching, lectures, workshops, and the participation of high-level exhibitors. The fair will feature 480 booths and host over 400 exhibitors from Macau, Guangdong, and the Belt and Road region.
Speaking to the press, the director of the Medical and Health Committee, Zhong Shixiong, stated, “The focus is on improving elderly care through safety furniture and health management, alongside promoting a healthy lifestyle as life expectancy increases.”
Zhong highlighted that cultural tourism products are being developed in response to the aging population, along with an initiative for universities for the elderly. He emphasized that the goal is to foster collaboration between Macau and Guangdong Province to enhance services for seniors.
He also noted that the ‘One country, two systems’ policy supports elderly services in both Macau and mainland China. With an aging population, he pointed out the potential to promote a silver economy and sell products that cater to the needs of seniors.
Overseas business manager Pang Jiayi from Shenzhen Kenqing Technology Co., Ltd. introduced two main products designed to assist the elderly: the Sports Assist Robot Pi-Plus and the Walking Assist Robot Anti-H1 Pro.
These products aim to help seniors who may struggle to keep pace with younger generations, as “these two products have been designed for them,” he stated.
The company is focusing on entering the overseas market, particularly launching in Macau.
“This year, we would like to focus on the overseas market.” he said. They emphasize sustainability and product upgrades, noting that “Macau has a very good and unique advantage” due to its geographic position and higher consumer purchasing power.
Tan Guanghui, the national representative inheritor of Guangcai (Cantonese Porcelain) Firing Techniques, shared that his company has brought various products, including cultural heritage items and 3D sculptures, which showcase foreign trade. Tan emphasized the importance of promoting intangible cultural heritage, stating, “We hope that our products could enjoy popularity and attract more visitors.”
He noted that the Greater Bay Area provides a valuable platform for cultural inheritance and aims to publicize traditional techniques to a global audience, inviting those interested to enjoy their products at the fair. Times Reporter
