Four young women duped in phone scams, losing MOP1.4 million

The Judiciary Police reported four new cases of phone scams impersonating mainland law enforcement, targeting women aged 18 to 24. The victims, three locals and one mainlander, suffered combined losses of MOP1.436 million, with one losing MOP957,000. Another detected the fraud early and avoided losses. In one case, a scammer falsely claimed a victim’s Home Return Permit was misused in crime, instructing her to deposit funds into a designated account. She later discovered MOP390,000 had been transferred in June.
