Man caught smuggling 19 used phones in electric wheelchair

A man in an electric wheelchair traveling through Gongbei Port to Zhuhai last week was intercepted by customs officers due to a layer of blue plastic covering the battery compartment, which appeared to conceal tampering. Upon further inspection, 19 used mobile phones were discovered hidden inside. The man admitted he was carrying the items for others in exchange for a “transportation fee.”
