Man jailed for unconsented filming

A firefighter has lost his appeal at the Court of Second Instance (TSI) and was handed a one-year prison sentence for filming his ex-girlfriend without her consent during their sexual relations. In May 2011, the victim discovered that the perpetrator had turned on his laptop camera in the room. The man initially agreed to delete the video but did in fact keep it. He also later used his mobile phone to secretly record his intercourse with the victim twice. The man was found guilty by the Court of First Instance and was given a suspended sentence. However, both he and the victim have launched an appeal, which has resulted in the convicted man being jailed immediately. Although the man had been briefly released by the Court of Final Appeal through the issuing of Habeas Corpus in waiting for another ruling from TSI, his reason of appeal was found to be false and he has to continue serving his sentence.
