MGM arts fund project concludes with exhibition in Barra

An exhibition showcasing the outcomes of MGM’s National Arts Fund-supported project, Talent Training on the Cultural and Creative Design of the Maritime Silk Road, opened last week at Barra District, marking the conclusion of a year-long talent development program.

Anchored at the Poly MGM Museum, the project was conducted in collaboration with the Palace Museum and the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, with training activities extended to five cities along the Maritime Silk Road. The program combined cultural theory, field studies and design practice to nurture cultural and creative professionals.

The exhibition presents works by 30 participants, developed after two months of intensive training and subsequent refinement. Organized into six thematic sections, the display features original pieces across fashion design, cultural products, painting, sculpture and multimedia installations, reflecting contemporary interpretations of Silk Road culture.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, MGM China chairperson and executive director Pansy Ho said the project demonstrated how traditional heritage can be transformed into modern creative expression, helping drive the development of cultural and creative industries.

A cross-sector exchange session was also held, bringing together professionals from design, tourism and branding sectors to explore commercialization opportunities and industry collaboration.

The exhibition is open to the public until March 8, with free admission.
