MGM has donated HKD3 million to restore seven historical buildings within Shankou town in Xiushui County, Jiangxi Province, supporting rural revitalization efforts.
The donation through the Macau SAR Government and the Liaison Office aims to reinvigorate Shankou as a tourist destination that showcases local histories and cultures.
An agreement signed in March will see the restoration focus on sites like Hongwei Market, Shankou Chamber of Commerce, and traditional shops.
The funds will cover interior design, materials, and exterior refurbishment to further uplift the historical and cultural allure of Shankou, recognized as a provincial and national historical town.
“This time, we draw on our industry strength, helping the local government transform Shankou’s red tourism resources and traditional culture into an appealing tourist destination. By lending our practical support, we strive to deepen the cooperation in cultural tourism between Jiangxi Province and Macau,” said Pansy Ho, chairman and executive director of MGM China.
