Operation rights of two new LRT lines assigned to namesake company

The government has assigned the rights of operation of the Seac Pai Van and Hengqin lines of the LRT to the LRT Company, a completely government-owned company, the Public Works Bureau (DSOP) has announced. The price is MOP6.8 million for nine months, from Jan. 1 to Sep. 30 this year. The government did not explain why the commencement date was retrospective or why the tender will only last for nine months. However, the tender for the current operation rights of the LRT Taipa line will conclude at end-2024. Hong Kong’s MTR Corp is operating the Taipa Line.
