Passenger agitated after rejection for seat upgrade
A flight from Chengdu to Macau last Saturday was delayed after a female passenger began to display disorderly behavior upon having her request for a seat upgrade rejected, mainland media reported.The aircraft was on the runway preparing to taxi when the woman suddenly got agitated, requiring the crew to attend to her. Passengers said that the captain promptly issued a plane-wide announcement regarding the incident and called the police to escort the woman off the plane. The aircraft, an Airbus A321, was delayed for about two hours.
Police arrest 19 illegal entrants
According to a joint statement on Sunday by the Customs and the Judiciary Police, 19 illegal entrants were arrested in three joint operations run over two days. Six of the lawbreakers hold Vietnamese passports, while the others are mainland residents. One male and three females have also been accused of attempted illegal departure. Two others were able to escape. The illegal entrants, aged between 24 and 51 years, were reportedly secreting their way into Macau to find jobs and new sources of entertainment. Two boat drivers will be charged with complicity. Customs will also prosecute another two people for illegal re-entry and providing shelter and harboring illegal entrants.
Three local comic books launched
The Association of Promoting Macau Comics and Animation Cultural Exchange has launched three comic books by local artists, which address themes ranging from architecture to boxing. “The Art of Zou Shiming” is based on the true story of Zou Shiming, the first Chinese boxer to be crowned an Olympic champion. The writer hopes to inspire young people to be courageous in the face of adversity. Comic writer Sunny Cheong’s animal protagonist, a cat named “Ah Bao”, takes readers on a journey through a small town to rediscover the beauty of traditional architecture. The third story, which depicts an alien’s arrival on Earth, focuses on the spiritual conflict between good and evil. The three books are available in stores across Hong Kong and Macau.
