Police warn of fake credit card fee refund scam

Judiciary Police have warned residents about phishing text messages falsely claiming that a MOP1,050 credit card annual fee paid in 2025 is eligible for a full refund. The messages impersonate local banks and contain links designed to steal personal and credit card information, which may then be used for unauthorized transactions. Police reminded residents that local banks do not send text messages containing links and urged them not to click suspicious links or provide sensitive information.
