Sands China Awarded “Top Employer” Certification Talent development strategies lead Macao’s tourism and service sectors

Sands China has been certified as a “Top Employer” for its outstanding performance in attracting, developing, and retaining talent, making it the first company in Macao’s tourism and service industry to receive this international accreditation, as well as the first integrated resort operator in the Asia Pacific region.

The certification is awarded by the Top Employer Institute, one of the world’s most authoritative certifiers of human resources strategies, which evaluates organisations through more than 200 assessment criteria. There are only around 2,400 organisations across 125 countries and regions certified as Top Employers, including Fortune Global 500 companies such as Huawei, Amazon, and Deutsche Bank.

Sands China offers comprehensive benefits and diverse talent cultivation and development opportunities, including more than 10 elite training programmes to actively attract and nurture the next generation of local talent.

The company has utilized its diverse business advantages to create over 1,400 types of positions across MICE, hospitality, food and beverage, entertainment, and retail sectors – providing more than 90,000 employment opportunities for local residents. When recruiting, Sands China emphasises diversity and inclusion; the Top Employers Institute has recognised the company’s initiatives for hiring people with disabilities as a best practice case.

Sands China promotes its team members’ continuous development throughout their careers. In 2024, each team member completed an average of 81.64 hours of paid on-the-job training – far exceeding the Talent Development Association’s benchmark of 21 hours.

With over 27,000 team members, Sands China’s people-first philosophy and comprehensive benefits are key to its employee retention. More than 14,000 team members have served the company for more than 10 years – representing over 50% of its workforce – a testament to the strength of the company’s corporate culture. Its Work Life 360 programme promotes holistic wellbeing and work-life balance, including providing paid childcare leave and flexible work hours for new parents.

Numerous international and regional awards attest to Sands China’s human resources excellence – including a prestigious Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Award – further demonstrating the significant achievements of the company’s talent development initiatives.
