Two women lose MOP30,000 in fake bank phishing SMS scam

The Judiciary Police (PJ) have received two separate cases of phishing SMS scams impersonating banks, with two local middle-aged women reporting losses of MOP15,000 each. According to the PJ, the two victims recently received phishing SMS messages, falsely claiming that they could receive a refund on last year’s 2025 credit card annual fee, luring them to click on a link embedded in the message. The two victims believed it to be genuine and provided their personal credit card details, passwords, and verification codes. Subsequently, they received notifications of transactions settled in South Korean Won. Sensing something was wrong, they contacted their banks and discovered they had been deceived, prompting them to report the case to the police.
