Macau recorded a strong rise in visitor spending in the first quarter of 2026, with total non-gaming expenditure reaching MOP24.43 billion, up 24.5% year-on-year, according to the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
Spending by overnight visitors rose 12.2% to MOP17.25 billion, while same-day visitors saw a sharp 69.2% increase to MOP7.18 billion.
Per-capita non-gaming spending stood at MOP2,179, an increase of 9.5% year-on-year. Overnight visitors spent an average of MOP4,101 each, while same-day visitors spent MOP1,025, up 7.7% and 40.6% respectively.
By category, shopping remained the largest component of visitor expenditure, accounting for 48.2% of total spending. This was followed by accommodation at 21.1% and food and beverages at 21%.
Among visitor source markets, mainland Chinese visitors recorded per-capita spending of MOP2,392, up 4.1% year-on-year. Hong Kong visitors saw a 37.4% rise to MOP1,203, while Taiwan visitors increased 8.9% to MOP2,004.
International visitor spending also grew strongly, rising 32.5% year-on-year to MOP2,178 per capita. In Northeast Asia, South Korean visitors spent MOP2,226 on average, up 35%, while Japanese visitors spent MOP2,093, up 47.9%.
In Southeast Asia, Singaporean visitors recorded the highest per-capita spending at MOP3,697, up 43.1%. Thailand and Malaysia saw more moderate growth at MOP2,224 and MOP1,761 respectively. LV
