‘White Butterflies in Macau’ rescheduled

Architecture Sans Frontières Macau (ASF-M) and Albergue SCM have rescheduled their event, “White Butterflies in Macau – in solidarity with Nepal,” for this Saturday, after it was postponed due to strong weather conditions on May 28.
The event aims to raise awareness of the reconstruction efforts in Nepal in the aftermath of last year’s destructive earthquake. It invokes the concept of the “White Butterfly Project,” a creation of Nepalese artist Milan Rai, which symbolizes “transformation through harmony and freedom,” according to organizers.
On Saturday, organizers will reveal a new project to build sustainable, cost-effective and earthquake-resistant buildings for disadvantaged communities who are currently unreached by the Nepalese government and international NGOs.
A local Nepalese Association will also be present to show images of the 2015 earthquake followed by a cultural performance.
Additionally, ASF-M will present its current projects and its ongoing humanitarian endeavor, Project Yolanda, which involves the rebuilding of five high schools in the Philippines that were destroyed in the wake of super typhoon Yolanda.
The event will be held at Albergue SCM on June 11 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m, and will be supported by the Department of Communication and Media of the Faculty of Creative Industries at the University of Joseph together with the Non-Resident Nepalese Association.
