Areia Preta social housing to deliver 4,088 units by 2027

Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai confirmed plans for the phased completion of the social housing project in Areia Preta (Hac Sa Wan). The development, part of the Zone A urban plan, is intended for public housing to support low-income families in the Macau Peninsula.
From 2026 to 2027, the government plans to develop plots A5, A6, A10, and A11, delivering a total of 4,088 units, with the plan prioritizing two-bedroom units for two-person families.
During yesterday’s policy address, the CE stressed the importance of stronger regulatory oversight, pledging rigorous enforcement of the social housing exit mechanism while maintaining rent exemptions for eligible tenants.
Simultaneously, the government said it will advance subsidized housing policies. It added that the implementation plan for the subsidized housing exchange system will be submitted to the Legislative Assembly for review once finalized.
As previously stated by the MSAR government, the primary goal of the project is to ensure a regular supply of public housing to meet the needs of low-income families and other eligible residents.
The government also plans a new round of public bidding for commercial shops in Zone A’s public housing to enhance local infrastructure in the area. NS
