Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai said President Xi Jinping’s speech delivered in Beijing yesterday, marking the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), has set a clear direction for continued confidence and progress among Chinese people, including residents of Macau.
A commemorative gathering was held yesterday in Beijing, where President Xi, who is also General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, conferred the July 1 Medal and delivered a keynote address.
Sam said the speech comprehensively reviewed the CPC’s 105-year history and highlighted the Party’s founding spirit. He noted that it carried significant political, theoretical, and practical implications, and outlined key requirements for advancing future development.
The Chief Executive said the MSAR Government will study and implement the spirit of the speech, and unite different sectors of local society in promoting the high-quality development of the ‘One country, two systems’ principle. He added that these efforts would support national modernization and the broader goal of national rejuvenation.
Sam said history has shown that the CPC’s leadership is essential to China’s development and to Macao’s prosperity and stability under One country, two systems. He stressed the importance of safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and development interests, as well as upholding central authorities’ overall jurisdiction.
Sam said the speech demonstrates the central government’s support for Macau and provides clear guidance for future policy direction.
In his speech, he pledged that the local government will also align its work with national development strategies, including the 15th Five-Year Plan and Macau’s own development plan for 2026–2030.
It will continue promoting cooperation with Hengqin, deepen economic diversification efforts, and support younger generations in contributing to national development and rejuvenation.
Meanwhile, the local government organized a series of commemorative activities yesterday, including arranging for about 2,000 representatives from different sectors of society and students to watch a live broadcast of the ceremony at the Macao Polytechnic University Multi-Sport Pavilion.
Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture O Lam and other officials attended the event. Students and youth representatives from various sectors also watched the broadcast separately.
The activities were aimed at enhancing public understanding in Macau of the Party’s 105-year history, strengthening social cohesion, and fostering a sense of national identity and patriotism.
