CEM convened an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders yesterday to discuss and vote on different issues on the agenda and to elect the new corporate organs, including the board of directors and the executive committee. Mr Xu Kaicheng was elected as chairman of the board of directors while Mr Bernie Leong was elected as chairman of the Executive Committee.
Mr Xu Kaicheng, a master degree holder, also holds an honorary doctorate from Macau University of Science and Technology. He joined Shanghai Petrochemical General Factory in 1973. He has held several senior management positions and is the current Chairman of the Board of Nam Kwong (Group) Company Limited.
Mr Bernie Leong obtained his degree in electrical engineering in Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada. He joined CEM in 1991 and became a member of the CEM Executive Committee in 2007. In his position as the chairman of the CEM executive committee, Mr Leong will draw on his management experience and leadership skills to lead CEM to better serve the community and its customers.
Galaxy organized soccer tournament for team members
With all the excitement surrounding the FIFA World Cup, the Staff Social Club of Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) recently organized a soccer tournament for the second year at Workers Stadium. The sports day brought together 170 participants, including the GEG team members and their friends and family. They were joined by the GEG executives. The players from GEG Soccer Team were also in attendance, and formed two teams to play a game for the audience.
The participating team members of GEG were divided into eight teams to engage in a series of exciting elimination games, before the undefeated team left as the champion. “We are all very passionate about the sport and have developed great rapport after practicing together many times,” said Ronald Leung, the captain of the champion team. “While coping with the hot weather, we were still able to play our best and took home the grand trophy. We are very proud of our performance.”
In addition, a number of GEG executives partnered with the members of GEG Soccer Team to present an exhibition game and enjoyed an intense, yet friendly, competition with one another. The tournament was also joined by friends and family members who cheered from the sidelines for every goal scored by the teams they supported.
Gilberto Ramirez meet and greet sands china employees
With just a few days to go until Champions of Gold kicks off at the Cotai Arena, Sands China Ltd. organized a meet and greet session at The Venetian Macao’s staff dining room yesterday, allowing company employees to meet and take photos with one of the key undercard fighters of the multi-bout world championship boxing extravaganza ahead of the July 19 showdown. In attendance was 23-year-old undefeated No. 2 world-rated contender Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (28-0, 22 KOs), of Mazatlán, Mexico, who will be defending his NABF/NABO super middleweight titles in the ring this coming Saturday.
