Casino operator Melco Resorts & Entertainment launched the ‘Melco & Colleagues Giving Stores’ last weekend, in partnership with Macao Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM) and the Fu Hong Society of Macau.
The Melco & Colleagues Giving Stores helps community beneficiaries to access a broad range of donated goods from Melco and its employees, which are in new or almost-new condition. With the generous support of the Company and its colleagues, over 50,000 donated items were collected for the Giving Stores.
The initiative will benefit 500 underprivileged families and help relieve pressure on their cost of living. Most goods available are free for community beneficiaries, whilst larger items such as household furniture are available at a fraction of their retail price. Proceeds will go to charity to benefit the community.
The opening event’s officiating guest, Choi Sio Un, Department Head of Social Solidarity, Social Welfare Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, said, “We are pleased to see integrated resort companies such as Melco offer support […] to aid the people of Macau and contribute to a harmonious society.”
