MGM will host two regional Chinese culinary showcases in July as part of its ongoing ‘Gastronomic Journey with Star Chefs’ initiative, highlighting Ningbo and Guangdong cuisine through guest chef collaborations at MGM COTAI, the company announced in press release.
The second edition of the ‘Maritime Silk Road Culinary Art Feast’ will take place at Five Foot Road on July 4–5, featuring Weng Yongjun, founder of the Michelin-starred Yong Fu Restaurant Group, alongside MGM Executive Sous Chef Yang Dengquan. The chefs will present an eight-course menu combining elements of Ningbo and Sichuan cuisine. Dishes will include sautéed Australian lobster with pickled chili and celery, braised South African abalone in black bean sauce, and a joint creation of steamed white pomfret in lychee flavor. The dinner is priced at MOP2,900 per guest, with wine and tea pairing included.
A second collaboration will be held at Chún from July 25–26, where Executive Chef Liang Jianyu of Guangzhou’s Fa Sing Garden will partner with Chún’s Executive Chef Tam Yim Chan. The menu will feature traditional Guangdong dishes, including stewed beef brisket with radish and braised fish maw in Chiu Chow style. The eight-course dinner is priced at MOP1,600 per guest, with optional wine and tea pairing available for an additional MOP300.
MGM said the events aim to promote the cultural heritage of regional Chinese cuisine and support Macau’s position as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.
