The 12th Oxfam TowerRun took place yesterday at Macau Tower, attracting over 400 participants and volunteers.
Organized by Oxfam, the event featured three race categories: the Full Race (61 floors), Half Race (31 floors), and the Team Relay Challenge. Since its inception, the TowerRun has raised nearly MOP5.2 million to support Oxfam’s poverty alleviation projects in Mainland China.
Henry Tang, director General of Oxfam Hong Kong, said this year’s theme, “Every Mind Counts, Every Step Transforms Lives,” reflects the event’s mission to help left-behind children through education and development programs.
In the Elite Individual Full Race, Japan’s Ryoji Watanabe and Yuko Tateishi won the men’s and women’s titles, clocking 6 minutes 46 seconds and 9 minutes 04 seconds respectively. Celebrity runner James Ng also made his debut, joining participants in raising awareness and support for underprivileged children.
