TASTE OF EDESIA | A perfect summer staycation

For those who are eager to plan a staycation in Macau this summer or want to recommend a hotel to friends from the mainland, Mandarin Oriental, Macau would be a great choice. Many of us who have been there all love its location at the waterfront with stunning views towards Nam Van Lake, the Macau Tower and the South China Sea. For city dwellers, it is a true respite.
The non-gaming lakeside urban retreat has one of the best spas and food and beverage outlets in town. A lazy individual who does not want to go anywhere during their staycation can just stay at the hotel and eat at their all-day dining restaurant highlighting Chinese and contemporary western cuisine. After enjoying dishes such as Wagyu tenderloin and Alaskan black cod, one could head to Vida Rica Bar for award-winning handcrafted cocktails.
A true masterpiece of design, Vida Rica Bar has been listed amongst the world’s best bars in the “Asia’s 50 Best Discovery” list. “50 Best Discovery” is the leading platform for gastronomic enthusiasts and an extension of the annual “Asia’s 50 Best” ranking of bars. The venues featured on “50 Best Discovery” received votes from the industry leading panellist of “Asia’s 50 Best Bars”. It is the very first time that Vida Rica Bar made it onto the coveted list. A bar that is famously known for its artisanal cocktails and spectacular Macau sunsets, the menu highlights concoctions inspired by a cinematheque theme, in collaboration with local movie producers and the Macau arthouse cinema.
For guests who are craving for South East Asian delights such as laksa and Hainanese chicken rice, signature afternoon tea and healthy bites, Lobby Lounge is Macau’s living room and the place to be seen. For dessert aficionados, The Mandarin Cake Shop showcases freshly made cakes with whimsical designs and delicious flavours.
A tranquil and relaxing staycation would not be complete without a visit to the spa at Mandarin Oriental, Macau, which has four individual treatment rooms, three couple suites and the exclusive Oriental Spa suite, where one can surrender the body and mind to a journey of serenity.
Meanwhile, the pool deck provides a fully equipped fitness and wellness centre as well as an outdoor temperature-controlled swimming pool. With unparalleled waterfront views, it is perfect for yoga and mediation sessions.
