Typhoon Bailu expected to hit Taiwan this weekend

According to a forecast by the Japan Meteorological Agency, tropical cyclone Bailu, which is currently located east of the Philippines, may make landfall over Taiwan this coming weekend. Previously, the typhoon looked set to move into the South China Sea, however that forecast had changed by last night.

The Central Weather Bureau of Taiwan made a similar forecast. It reported that as of yesterday afternoon, typhoon Bailu was moving northwestward from the east coast of the Philippines at a speed of 16 km/h. The sustained wind speed near the center of the storm was 64 km/h, with gusts reaching 90 km/h.

A forecast by website windy.com predicts the typhoon to make landfall in Taiwan on Saturday, at a maximum sustained wind speed of about 70 km/h.

Macau may experience hot weather this weekend. The temperature may reach 35 degree Celsius. Sufficient water intake is recommended to avoid heatstroke. AL
