Xu Qifang named executive deputy director of HKMAO
Xu Qifang has been appointed as executive deputy director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office (HKMAO), filling the vacancy left by Zhou Ji, now head of the Hong Kong Liaison Office. The State Council confirmed the appointment yesterday, following earlier disclosures by the Office in July. Xu, 60, previously served as deputy head of the Communist Party’s Organization Department and spent much of his career in Shaanxi before holding senior roles in Hainan and Beijing.
