City’s ‘immediate prevention status’ lifted

The city’s “immediate prevention status,” which had been placed last Tuesday following the announcement that a family of four locals tested positive, was lifted at 10 p.m. last night.
The order was signed by Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng.
During the Covid-19 press briefing yesterday, it was disclosed that the status will be lowered in accordance with the pandemic risk.
All sample results received from the three-day mass testing have come back negative.
The city’s first-of-its-kind mass Covid-19 test scheme processed 614,465 people, together with another 101,786 people who underwent the test on their own outside the citywide testing program since August 3 — totaling 716,251 people.
Last Tuesday, the government proclaimed that Macau was facing an “extremely high” contagion risk within the local community.
To prevent the spread of the pandemic in Macau, a set of mandates has been enforced, including the requirement of all people leaving Macau to present a negative Covid-19 testing proof conducted within 24 hours and classifying the residential building the family inhabited in as “red-
code zone,” in which all the inhabitants there are not allowed to leave the area until they test negative for Covid-19 and further notice. MDT
