DSAT opens bidding for 200 taxi licenses

The Transport Bureau (DSAT) yesterday opened bidding for 200 eight-year taxi licenses, according to the government’s Official Gazette (BO). Tenders must be submitted before June 18. The minimum tender is MOP200,000 and the official bidding opening ceremony will be held on June 23 at the Macau Polytechnic Institute’s multi sports pavilion. Once granted, the eight-year license cannot be extended or transferred to other parties, DSAT said in a statement.  DSAT recalled that 230 taxi licenses will expire between this year and 2016. Therefore, “the Macau government is committed to plan and move forward with the granting of new taxi licenses, while timely complementing the existing number of taxis.” Further information on the bidding process is available at www.dsat.gov.mo.

Damn these taxi drivers, half the time they drive around with their meters covered.
They prefer to queue up empty outside the major hotels.
Here at Toi Shan just by the border there are never any taxis, Lei Pou Chun street & Ave. Artur Tamagnini Barbosa
Even less (empty) taxis coming out from the Border by the Choi Lung School.
If it Rains anything like what we had experienced these last couple of days, we will all drown before a Taxi comes along.
I am so blessed that this is only Macao and I made it a point in my life never rely on Taxis, only if I am dying and need to get to the Hospital, I might try to wave down a taxi cab.
How sick can it get, and what is being done by our Government? Very little next to nothing.

Please tell us what is the purpose of having more Taxis and to create further Traffic Congestion on our roads, when the Cabbies are allowed to Pick and Choose and half the time doing Detours?
I would like to hear back from the Taxis’ Companies and our Government (DSAT)
Like we need more pollution, from all the exhaust that is generated, as if we haven’t enough.
Please review my earlier feedback to this same issue.
I really can’t see what we are driving at?

One other thing that I would like to know more about, anywhere in the world you can call to reserve a taxi in
advance, not so here in Macao. I need to know what is this all about, from both (DSAT) and the Taxis (Big Brothers) their Telephone Numbers are clearly on display, what is the issue here? Need and MOP10 ?
