MGM and Chamber of Commerce lead GBA exchange to boost local food SMEs

MGM and the Macao Chamber of Commerce co-organized a two-day exchange tour from July 21 to 22 aimed at helping local food industry SMEs scale up, modernize operations, and explore expansion opportunities in the Greater Bay Area.
Supported by several government departments, including the Economic and Technological Development Bureau and the Municipal Affairs Bureau, the “SME Quality Enhancement Greater Bay Area Exchange Tour” brought 20 Macau-based food enterprises to visit benchmark manufacturers and packaging facilities across Jiangmen and Guangzhou.
Many participating SMEs are already certified in international food safety standards and are looking to expand beyond the Macau market.
The tour builds on last year’s collaboration under the “Seizing Business Opportunities in the Cooperation Zone” program.
MGM says SME procurement makes up 35% of its purchasing volume, and the company is continuing to support local food producers through safety certification programs and professional training.
According to Simon Leong, assistant vice president of Purchasing at MGM, the exchange aims to provide SMEs “exposure to the latest industry trends, strategic transformation approaches, and applications of new technologies.”
