MGM Embraces the Beauty of Chinese Tea Art

As a pioneer in cultural tourism, MGM pledges to embrace and pass on the beauty of Chinese traditional culture. With the aim of promoting Chinese tea culture and nurture the next generation of Chinese tea sommeliers, MGM joined hands with Tea Art Professionals’ Association of Macao to organize “The 9th MingXing Tea Specialists National Final Competition – Greater Bay Area”, which took place at MGM COTAI on October 18.

Kenneth Feng, President, Chief Strategic & Financial Officer of MGM, said, “This collaboration exemplifies our dedication in nurturing local tea art professionals, as well as our endeavor in passing on Chinese traditional culture. Throughout the past years, MGM has devoted much of its resources into cultural education in the community – we have organized a lineup of Chinese traditional culture themed events and online learning programs to 36,000 team members and community members, which helped strengthening our community’s cultural confidence.”

On top of being a co-organizer of the competition, MGM also sent its Food and Beverage team members from restaurants such as Five Foot Road, Imperial Court & Chun to take part and compete with industry peers. With excellent tea art skills, the team has harvested a total of three awards. Geoffrey Simmons, Vice President of Food & Beverage of MGM, expressed his appreciation to the team on their efforts.  “Our team members have gone through intensive training and preparation for the past few months. We are thrilled that we have garnered three awards, and would like to extend my appreciation to the contestants, and their trainers and the support group for their dedication and hard work.”

Tea is an essence of Chinese gastronomy. In view of offering authentic gastronomic experiences to its guests, MGM’s Chinese culinary team take the lead to promote the beauty of Chinese tea by pairing a fine selection of teas from different regions in China to bring out the true flavors of various Chinese cuisines. From tea pairing with Lingnan cuisine at Chun, traditional Sichuan tea dance showcased in Five Foot Road, to creative tea-infused cocktails served at Bar Patua, MGM strives to share the gem of Chines tea with all of its guests, and at the same time tells the great story of Chinese culture in its daily operations.
